Albany Classic 'Round the Houses' car race
Eric Armstrong, a member of the WA Sporting Car Club proposed the Albany Classic "Around The Houses" race to the Albany Town Council in 1936. Named the Albany Tourist Trophy it was to be conducted over 25 laps of a 2.5 mile (4.0 km) road circuit passing through the centre of town and attracting a crowd of over 10,000.
